About Compass

Compass aims to support students of the Department of Cultural Environment and New Technologies Management, University of Patras in their study of E. H. Gombrich's "The Story  of Art ".

In particular, Compass can be used as a search app for artworks such as sculptures, paintings, Byzantine icons, frescoes, manuscripts, collages, etc, contained in the textbook using keywords that are even just semantically related to searched items...

The current version of Compass is being developed as a last year project at the department of Management of Cultural Heritage and New Technologies. This work was motivated by the difficulty experienced by students in locating photographic material (illustrations) contained in this particular textbook mainly due to the large number of illustrations it contains.

Currently, Compass runs as a demo on a local server and its content is indicative for demonstration purposes.

The application follows a responsive design  thus offering a high-quality aesthetic result to the user.
